Overview
ITS will apply a critical Oracle patch to the OBPRD database beginning on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 5 p.m. through Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 5 p.m. These critical security updates ensure our data remains protected. During the patch process, there will be a brief interruption to all services that connect to the Oracle databases.
Benefit: Upgrading the Oracle OBPRD will ensure our databases remain secure.
What Can You Expect

Overview
The Chancellor's Office has scheduled a downtime maintenance window for the campus PeopleSoft platforms, Campus Solutions (CS) 9.2 and Human Resources (HR) 9.0. The downtime will occur on Friday, October 25th, from 8:00 p.m. to midnight while the Chancellor's Office works to apply a maintenance pack upgrade.
Benefit:
This maintenance will resolve a bug found in the user file extraction related to the preferred name. This fix will allow preferred name and primary name to be always extracted.
What Can You Expect
Campus Solutions (CS) will not be available during the maintenance window. Affected applications include:

- CEL Quick Admit
- E-Trac
- Gator Scheduler

Overview
The Campus Solutions (CS) and Human Resources (HR) PeopleTools 8.60 upgrade, a project mandated by the Chancellor's Office, has been completed.
To ensure minimal impact to SF State, the ERP and Business Intelligence team worked in conjunction with campus subject matter experts to test functionality and connections between Campus Solutions (CS), Human Capital Management (HCM), Common Financial System (CFS), the SF State mobile app, external vendors, and local databases. We officially confirm that all applications are accessible and running efficiently.
What Can You Expect
Applications that access PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Human Resources are fully functional.

Overview
The ITS Service Desk is excited to announce the pilot of our new Virtual Service Desk on Monday, October 14, 2024. This new feature is designed to allow the SF State community to receive ITS support services from anywhere. The Virtual Service Desk provides a convenient feature for getting ITS support via screen sharing from anywhere our customers are. Overview
ITS will apply monthly Windows security and critical updates on Windows servers on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 6 p.m. to midnight. The latest Windows security patches fix vulnerabilities and errors in Windows and associated software. Security and critical updates reduce the risk of exploitation by malware or hackers.
What Can You Expect
During the maintenance window, users may experience a brief loss of service while each server reboots. During the maintenance window, each server will be unavailable for less than 10 minutes.

Overview
Campus Solutions (9.2) and Human Resources (9.0) will upgrade their PeopleTools application software from 8.59 to 8.60 as mandated by the Chancellor's Office. The upgrade to our production environments will begin Friday, October 11th, at 6 p.m. and run through Saturday, October 12th, at 5 p.m.
Benefit:
Upgrading from PeopleTools 8.59 to 8.60 will apply security fixes, ensure the campus stays current with PeopleTools advancements, and enhance the overall application performance. The new updates will include enhanced data security, notification enhancements, a change to the search engine, and user interface updates.
What Can You Expect
Any application that accesses PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Human Resources directly will not be functional for the duration of the upgrade window.

• SF State Mobile App features such as Class Schedule, Financial Aid, etc.
• Web Applications such as Class Search, CPaGE Shopping Cart, Password Change / Reset, Faculty Grade Exceptions, etc.

Overview
ITS will upgrade Shibboleth (IdP) from 4.0.1 to 5.1.2 on Friday, October 11, 2024.
Benefit: This upgrade will improve security, performance, and long-term sustainability.
What Can You Expect
After the upgrade, some users logging into SF State services through Single Sign-On (SSO), may need to reenter their credentials.

Overview
In collaboration with the Chancellor’s Office, Information Technology Services (ITS) will replace all core network switches in the ITS Data Center, resulting in a series of maintenance windows from October 4, 2024, to November 22, 2024. This refresh will increase reliability and capacity.
Maintenance has been planned for eight Friday night windows, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., beginning on October 4, 2024, and concluding on November 22, 2024. During these maintenance windows, users may experience various levels of disruption to the campus network, as listed below, including multiple full campus network outages.
What Can You Expect
Each maintenance window is planned for eight hours: four hours to complete scheduled work and four hours to roll back in the event of an issue.
The project team will build a parallel network where possible to minimize downtime; however, this will not always be an option.

Overview
Starting on October 1, 2024, ITS will implement a new security measure to enhance the protection of SF State accounts. Introducing Duo Verified Push for Mobile App.
What to Expect
When logging in with SF State credentials, if you use Duo Mobile Apps with Duo Push for verification purposes, you will receive a Duo Verified Push notification containing a series of numbers. You must enter the numbers from the Duo prompt into the device you are logging into to sign in successfully. This change helps enhance the security of your SF State account by making it more difficult for a malicious actor to steal your credentials. For more information, please check out our news article.
