Property / Asset Management

Asset management, broadly defined, refers to any system that monitors and maintains things of value to an entity or group. It is a systematic process of deploying, operating, maintaining, upgrading, and disposing of assets cost-effectively. Also, a legal binding requirement to follow guidelines, policies, and procedures set in a private or federal/state government environment.

ITS adheres to the university guidelines. New assets such as equipment, furniture, and software upgrades that are over $1,000 will be tagged by the Property Office.

Note:  Lost/Stolen assets must be immediately reported to the University Police Department (UPD) at 415-338-7200 and to ITS Business Services at busserv@sfsu.edu.
